As a volunteer-powered organization, members of the Chorus Management Team are elected for two-year terms by the members of Honolulu Blend. These essential leaders are responsible for managing the many administrative aspects that keep our chorus functioning.
Deb Straight
Team Coordinator
Deb has over 47 years of administrative/managerial experience in the Department of Defense (a retired Marine with 29+ years of active duty, and Air Force civilian employee at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam for the last 18 years), and 23+ years Sweet Adeline affiliation. As a founding/charter member of Honolulu Blend, her involvement in chorus management has been constant since 2001 and her passion for this chorus to succeed, and prosper, is ever present.
Stephanie Brictson
Master Director
Noel Eto
Membership Coordinator
As a member of Sweet Adelines Intl since 2002, Noel joined Honolulu Blend Show Chorus in 2011 as a founding and charter member, singing baritone and bass, just as the chorus began their journey onto the Region 21 Golden West competition stage. Noel has served on the Management Team as Membership and Fundraising chair. Noel is a licensed physical therapist assistant and massage therapist, as well as a trained disciple/coach of Wu Style Tai Chi Ch’uan.
Her present lofty goal is studying postural alignment in singing, martial arts and life.
Gail Higaki
Finance Manager
Gail joined Honolulu Blend Chorus in 2012, new to Sweet Adelines and barbershop singing. As a retired educator, serving on the Management Team has provided an abundance of opportunities for lifelong learning. She has been a Membership Chair and Team Coordinator, and is the current Finance Manager. She began as a Baritone and now sings Bass.
Sheila Wrede
Secretary
Sheila is a Certified Health Coach with training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. After retiring from a technology career in the Washington, DC area in December 2014, she moved to Oahu and pursued her passion for assisting others to explore healthy living and nutritious food. She founded her business “Wellness Becomes You” to teach others about the power of holistic nutrition. Sheila believes that food is medicine, and enjoys creating whole food recipes, and teaching cooking classes over Zoom. Sheila loves the opportunities she has discovered in Hawaii, especially singing with the Honolulu Blend Show Chorus!
Rachel Knapstein
Public Relations
Rachel joined Honolulu Blend in 2015 after attending a guest night hosted by the chorus. She quickly found herself inspired by the "teamwork" nature of barbershop harmony. She has served on the management team as membership coordinator and team coordinator. Aside from singing, she enjoys surfing and sailing. Rachel has a master's degree in marine science and currently works as a biologist at an environmental consulting firm in Kaneohe.
